Alterations
If you plan to remove walls in your property, create space in the attic, or build an extension you will need advice from a Structural Engineer.
We can provide informal advice during a chat when inspecting your property, or if you require something more formal this can be done in a letter report.
Most alterations need a Building Warrant. We will work closely with your Architect to find a design solution that best fits your aspirations and then produce calculations, drawings, and an Engineer's Certificate to enable this to be approved by the Local Authority as quickly and easily as possible. Our drawings will be detailed enough to allow a Builder to give you a cost estimate for the work.
Extensions
Usually we become involved in a project after your Architect has made a Planning Application and is ready to move on to your Building Warrant Application.
We will inspect the property and discuss with you how easy your proposals are to achieve and highlight any issues that we foresee. We will liaise with your Architect to ensure both our requirements are met, and then produce design calculations, drawings, and an Engineer's Certificate for Local Authority approval.
Structural Surveys
Sometimes when selling your property the Building Surveyor notices something that they are not comfortable with and will ask in the Home Report that the issue is investigated by a Structural Engineer. We have extensive experience in building movement and defects and our report will identify the significance of any problems and give guidance to resolve the issue and progress the sale. We understand time is usually short in these situations and aim to inspect and report within a few days.
You may not be selling, but have noticed cracks in your property that are causing some concern. We will inspect and provide advice on the scale of any problem and provide a way forward to resolve or manage the root cause.

We have the experience and confidence to work with the rest of your design team to produce a Structural Design which is economic, sustainable and will maintain the integrity of your original vision.

We have many years experience working on commercial buildings. We understand the pressures of altering or extending an existing premises to maximize its contribution to your business activity. You may also need a new facility or production space and we are obviously more than capable of assisting with this too.

We have completed many designs for steel stairs, barriers and handrails, rooflights, shopfronts, and such items for which a subcontractor need a Structural Design submitted to the Certifying Engineer. We will provide calculations and drawings which will be sufficient to be covered by the Certificate of Structural Design.
